  • A birth doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, and birth. Their goal is to help you feel informed, confident, and empowered throughout the process.

  • A full-spectrum doula is trained to support people through the entire range of reproductive experiences—not just pregnancy and birth. This can include fertility journeys, birth, postpartum, adoption or surrogacy, abortion care, pregnancy loss, and other outcomes. My role is to provide compassionate, nonjudgmental support for whatever path your experience takes.

  • Families in Maine often appreciate having consistent support during pregnancy and birth, especially with varying hospital policies, limited staffing in rural areas, and long travel distances to certain birth centers. I can offer personalized care no matter where you choose to give birth.

  • Like most birth doulas, I offer:

    • Prenatal visits and education about birth

    • Information about preparing yourself for the birth experience

    • Support in creating a birth preferences list

    • On-call availability around your due date

    • Continuous support during labor and birth

    • Physical comfort techniques (breathing, massage, positioning)

    • Partner support

    • Immediate postpartum care and early feeding help

    • A follow-up postpartum visit

  • Doula training focuses on comfort measures—like breathing techniques, massage, and helpful positions—to ease discomfort and support your body as labor progresses naturally. I will help you work with your body through all the variations that your birth journey may take.

  • No. Doulas do not perform medical tasks or make clinical decisions. They work alongside your midwife, OB, or nurse to help you have a supported, informed birth. I work as one member of your skilled birth team.

  • Many families hire a doula in the first or second trimester to ensure availability, but you can reach out at any time — even late in pregnancy. I am happy to have a free consultation with you at any point in your pregnancy.

  • Yes, I support home births when you’re also working with a licensed midwife. Doulas complement the clinical care that home-birth midwives provide.

  • Absolutely. Doulas don’t replace partners — they enhance their role by offering guidance, reassurance, and practical tools so partners can support confidently. I am honored to join you as a member of your support team.

  • Doulas support all birth preferences. I can help you understand your options, stay comfortable before and after an epidural, and remain a calm, steady presence during planned or unplanned cesarean births.

  • There are doulas all over Maine. I live in Otisfield but I am happy to support families anywhere in Oxford, Cumberland and Androscoggin counties. I also serve families in the Augusta area who might be planning to deliver at MaineGeneral Medical Center there.
